Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi Selvan, based on your thinking that I had exceeded the license quota, I tried with a different subscription and got the same result so I don't think that can be the cause. So too, I don't see why there is not some sort of exception or log somewhere showing why the installation is incomplete / failed.

Thanks for your help,

Steve

Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi Steve,

In order to help you on this situation may I have some screenshots. LI\ike Available updates both optional as well as the normal one. All the programs installed in add/remove programs - programs which starts with a letter M. Make sure the status on Windows firewall and defender must be turned off.

Note: Software requirements must be .net frameworks, VC++, MsXML, Internet explorer 8, Windows installer 3.5 and above etc.

Re: Installation Incomplete

I have been working with pc_selvan on this issue and when last we communicated he was referring this to his 3rd level support. I don't mind providing additional details, I just don't want you and he to duplicate your efforts. Steve

Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi there - I too am having an identical issue to these people. I have XP- SP3 - and had Mcafee installed. During a Mcafee update months ago the internet stopped and I had a tech go through to reinstall my mcafee. That didn't work and I had a scheduled call, but would rather work via messaging to fix it.

I've uninstalled it, run the removal tool, the vc2010, and net4 and the mcafee preinstall (no errors).

Basically, during the actual install after the downloads it stops and stays incomplete during the Internet Security install part.

The virtual tech says product needs updating and of course the update button doesn't work as others have described.

Have cleared the registry.

It's been months now. I don't use this machine for the internet but still worry about it and want to fix it. I have a valid subscription and can add this machine.

My log file seems to consistently show as the first 2 errors  -

Could not run the process as \net.exe doesnt exist

Could not run the process as C:\Program Files\Common Files\Mcafee\MNA\mcnasvc.exe doesnt exist

The net.exe file does exist and works - so I don't get that. One of the people in this thread had the same message though.

The Mcnasvc.exe doesn't exist - at least not in that directory.

Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi sgordon,

After a long time I figured out that Available Physical memory in your PC is lower ( close to 300MB) than the required value(512MB) for McAfee Installation. To verify this login to your PC and Open up "msinfo32" in Run dialogue and see the available Physical memory If it is less than 512MB try closing the system tray Appplications that you do not use. Recheck msinfo32 to see if the available Physical Memory has raised than required RAM.

Repeat the above procedure by clearing up the start up items until you see enough memory (Recommended 512MB+ size).

Retry the Installation to see if it is Successful..!

Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi, I ran the removal tool, booted into safe mode, ran the preinstall tool (with verbose logging set) and monitored available memory with msinfo32. At no time did it dip below 500 that I could see. I tried to install just the antivirus (not firewall etc.) and it failed with the same error as before. Any other ideas?

Here is what it was before I started the install

And here is what it was while installing right before the same error. Note, I was only trying to install the AntiVirus via Custom  Install:

In the above you will see that it is over 600 MB free and install is running.

The log captured is below from the preinstall tool:

Re: Installation Incomplete

Hi Stephen,

Please navigate to the below location and check to see a log file named mfehidin.log

C:/Documents&Settings/All users/Application Data/McAfee/MCLOGS/

If you are not able to see it enable Verbose logging in the PC (Click here to see how)

Retry the Installation and recheck the said location for mfehidin.log

Attach it here for proceeding further..!
