RE: hi..sorry to butt in..

Dennis, this does not work for the Consumer (home) products and hasn't since VirusScan 9. Unless something drastic has been re-designed very recently that we haven't been told about.

It's fine for Enterprise products, just not the home ones.

They need to put the domain addresses or IP numbers in their firewall to allow access.

A Senior T3 Technician has stated

Best option for them would be to allow access to *.mcafee.com

RE: hi..sorry to butt in..

Appears Dennis is correct we have just found out that the sdats do include the avv*.dat files that the new consumer products require.

My understanding is that you download the sdat to say the desktop then in the run line (start/run) type C:\Users\User\Desktop\sdat5609.exe /e c:\test this extracts the files to a folder called test on the cdrive. Of course adjust the actual sdat path to suit your case. You then replace the avv*.dat files into the relevant dat folder.

This method does not update the registry and is not suggested as a solution but rather a temporary solution to update issues.

If there isn't a FAQ there certainly should be one.
