Exclduing files from on-access scan

Can anyone tell me how to exclude files from the on-access scanning please - my machine has appalling performance but luckily on Vista I can see that it is McAfee scanning everything to within an inch of it's life - including the paging file which is unusual to say the least, not to mention any databases I have.

RE: Exclduing files from on-access scan

Hi,

perform the windows disk defrag and disc cleanup.

Please clarify,
How do you connect to the Internet (DSL, Dialup, cable)?
Did you experience any spyware alert or advertisement in the computer?
How old is the computer?
