Detection File more than 30 days old?

Really looking for some help here. I had the same IE 8 Beta issue. Followed the steps and removed it. However now IE doesn't work. It just won't load pages. It acts like there's no connection. Currently using Safari which doesn't work with the McAfee Virtual Technician and I can't get the chat to work either.

First and foremost I need help getting the protection status fixed. It's saying I'm not protected and that there is action required for both Computer & Files and E-mail & IM. When I click Fix Now, it seems to be working then stops and nothing happens. The bullet point says "The Detection File is more than 30 days old."

Please help.

RE: Detection File more than 30 days old?

IE needs to have a working connection to the Internet in order for McAfee to update.

In IE7;

Click 'Tools' Menu
Click 'Internet options'
Click the 'Advanced' tab
Click the 'Restore Advanced settings' button
Click the 'Reset...' button
Click 'OK'

Close and re-open your browser and see if the internet works...

I didn't get as far as a Session ID. When I click Run it goes through the motions and tries to open an I.E. window. Which is part of the problem. Since removing IE 8 Beta, it doesn't work anymore.

please try this...

1. open internet explorer
2. click on tools
3. choose internet options
4. click on the advanced tab
5. click on reset
6. close IE and reopen
7. use the default settings when IE prompts you to customize
8. retry running virtual technician in my signature...

RE: Detection File more than 30 days old?

are we working on an XP operating system?

if it's xp please uninstall IE7... it will autoamtically go back to IE6 and then run this patch.

if it's vista please do the following:

run command prompt as administrator and then in the black window type these in:

regsvr32 jscript.dll

hit enter

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

hit enter

retry running MVT.
