Thanks, indeed I did that and it helps tremendously. I see it as a workaround however as it works because I switch off functionality...Message was edited by: TheMissingLink on 3/19/11 1:46:39 PM CET
Just did a clean-up on one of my systems (I admit, I cleanup very rarely)... in the quarantine folder... 35000 files!!!! It takes hourse before McAfee even shows them, then I need to do "Select All", then "Remove"...
Yes, I have switched it off on all my systems but why doesn't McAfee clean this up automatically???
(Remember, the other wish is that I can exclude false negatives myself)
By the way... McAfee was tested very bad in the Netherlands recently (ending at the bottom of the pack; even below freeware)...
I have no idea why it doesn't do a cleanup, say every 30 days. It does that for logs so why not...we have suggested it.
Yes, well comparison lists depend greatly on the parameters used I guess.
Exclusions will be possible in the final 2011 software which hasn't been released yet.
But that will only apply to manual and scheduled scans, not the real-time scanner.
There is always the submission method to get an XDAT.Message was edited by: Ex_Brit on 28/03/11 4:28:58 EDT PM
But it's the real-time scanner that "does it"!!! Suppose I have a USB stick and plug it in. Immediately when I list the contents in Explorer (or before) the real time scanner already quarantines a file that it deems is a virus. I can't get 'in between' that
Oh and clearly McAfee doesn't clean-up it's quarantine area...
Well we have tried to persuade them that full exceptions should be possible, like they used to be with VirusScan 7 and still are with VirusScan Enterprise. It's under consideration.
Point 2, I thought I already agreed with that and we have suggested that too.
Thanks. I'm sorry for #2, you're right. I'm just frustrated; it's still building the list. As it populates the dialog, memory consumption goes out of the roof, making the system extremely sluggish, also CPU goes up to 100%.
By the way if you had downloaded optional Windows Update KB971029 you'd be able to adjust Autoplay not to kick in and possibly avoid the inevitable scan.Message was edited by: Ex_Brit on 28/03/11 4:59:22 EDT PM
