Re: Delete quarantined files

Sorry I missed the bottom bit in your last post.

That's another feature we requested and not sure if it's included in next years product - the ability to ignore files.

Meanwhile here is what you do if something is wrongly detected:  https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016

Re: Delete quarantined files

OK thanks for the tip on how to ignore safe files. I hope it'll be in next years version as having to take action and send emails (or even having to disable your protection) is too much for me. Why can't I simply go to the file in quarantine, select is and click "Ignore & Restore", can't be all that difficult.

Related (and off-topic): if I want these features and they come in the 2011 version... what happens with my three 3-year licenses I purchased beginning of 2010??? Is the penalty I'm paying for giving McAfee more money and committing myself for 3 years that I'm frozen in an older version the last two years??? Or does my three year subscription allow me to upgrade to 2011 and 2012 for free (I'd hope that, if not that will be the last time I'll commit for more than one year!!) PLEASE make me at least a little bit happy

Re: Delete quarantined files

Your version will automatically upgrade for the life of your subscription so don't worry about being stuck with older versions.

Back several years with VirusScan 7 (we are now at #14) it was possible to tell VirusScan to ignore just about anything, you could even right-click a file in Windows and exclude it from any future scans, but they took it all away as too many people were allowing dangerous things to stay on their machines.   It remains as part of the business products and we have been promised it will return, but when and how it will work I can't promise.

Re: Delete quarantined files

A while later I'm getting back to the original topic... I'm cleaning the old PC from my daughter. In 9 months, 14000 (!) files were collected in the Quarantine folder. Even when I ask McAfee to list them I get a script timeout prompt. In the end all are listed, I do "select All" the "delete". The deletion rate is about 50 files per hour... (I'm not kidding).

Also in the process of listing them all, memory fills like crazy and is now way above physical memory (which of course also makes things sluggish); on top CPU is maxed out at 100% all the time. I have no other apps running.

When will this be addressed??? Does anyone know???

Re: Delete quarantined files

I might as well jump in here.I had a question about a pup that said can not repair.Although this same pup was repaired or (qaurantined)earlier?I also have tried to send to Mcafee 3 times but it kept showing up as an error.I wanted to send because i thought it may help with future items and repairs.Does anyone know about this? Here are the images.

Re: Delete quarantined files

I had 150 sitting there and yes we mods have asked that they be auto deleted monthly in the next version.

My 150 deleted in 2 seconds. OK with the 14000 that could be using memory thus the pc is swapping to the swap file. Is there a swap file and how much ram?

What Pc details

I would let it proceed for a while I will ask if there is a folder one can delete.

Newjack

that is strange maybe it changed email it to Mcafee labs the address is in the useful links tab

Re: Delete quarantined files

Still generating these bl... files. Any updates on testing of the 2011 version (which is expected to auto-delete) yet?

Re: Delete quarantined files

Uncheck 'Tracking Cookies" in Virus and Spyware Protection > Real Time Protections > Scan Settings and cloick Apply.

That should eliminate most if not all of them if they are appearing in the possibly unwanted programs area.

The beta 2011 product is available.... see:  https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-1236

Re: Delete quarantined files

The feature you commented on is not I feel in tp 5.0. At least we have only had it for 3 days so have a while to wait to see if it works

Re: Delete quarantined files

Couple months later... any updates? I need to purchase new licenses for some of my systems; some negative test results, this 'problem' and the inability to TRUST certain programs makes me move to other software (I'll stick with MA on some of my systems as I have 3 year licenses...)
