Re: Delete quarantined files

To answer your last line, MQM is a separate quarantine product which stores and manages files quarantined by McAfee email products like EWS and MSME(a.k.a GSE). It doesn't store the quarantined files on file system rather uses DB like MSSQL for managing Mail data and metadata. It doesn't currently work with VSE and files quarantined by that.

Re: Delete quarantined files

Are we talking Enterprise (VSE) here?  This is the home products area.

I need to move this to the correct area if Enterprise.

Just a response to the following line by 'themissinglink'

Re: Delete quarantined files

there are over 100000 files in my quarantine, I don't have the patience to even get the menu loaded to delete them.

this is home version of product

Re: Delete quarantined files

Sorry for the delays, just back from vacation

No, my installation seems OK, I'm not going to uninstall only to find out it doesn't make a difference

Re: Delete quarantined files

I just deleted the contents of my Quarantines Potentially Unwanted Programs drawer by selecting all and then hitting delete.  It took ages and that was only around 3 or 4 weeks-worth of files.   It may appear to hang for ever but it will eventually finish.

I had nothing in the other drawers to delete.

Re: Delete quarantined files

Yeah, if there's not too many it works quite quickly here too. What I'd need is McAffee being able to clean this up itself after say 3 months instead of us having to clean up the quarantine.

Related: sometimes McAfee flags a program as a virus and places it in quarantene, when it does that it merely tells me it did, I can't indicate to McAfee then or later via the program interface to it should tryst the program and that I want it back and no longer flagged. This must be simple: what am I missing?

Re: Delete quarantined files

I'm surprised it doesn't self-clean at 30 days as it does for the logs.   I'll certainly pass this on as a suggestion.  It would be a good feature request to propose for the beta testing also.

Re: Delete quarantined files

So... we're two weeks further and I just deleted 900+ files again in my quarantene folder. Were are we on finding out why McAfee does do this automatically??? Imagine what would happen if people are not aware of this (and I'm guessing 99.9% of the users isn't); they assemble 10K+ files on their HD every year! What a waste... I'd suggest McAfee (if they're listening and reading this) gives this at least some priority!

Anyone with feedback on by other question? Maybe I can create a separate thread but I hoped this was simple...

"sometimes McAfee flags a program as a virus and places it in quarantene, when it does that it merely tells me it did, I can't indicate to McAfee then or later via the program interface that it should trust the program and that I want it back and no longer flagged. Re: Delete quarantined files

I did pass that on.  If and when I beta test next years product I will monitor it and give feedback on it.
