RE: Dear Mcafee Comunity,<br

I combined your posts as it will get better attention that way, anyway, I'll try to help but this error has never really been pinpointed to one particular answer.

How do you connect to the internet? If you are using wireless, try connecting using a wired connection.

What is your system, service pack and connection type/make/model #?

Here's one set of suggestions from another thread:

Suggestion:
uninstall any junk application like
modem helper
modem dialer
high speed internet
google web accelerator
DSl line detect
Web redirector
netzzero installers
View point manager
etc...
reboot
try in safe mode with networking ...
if these fail..
check with the internet service provider or wait for say a day or two and try again

I will add 2 to Peter's list ensure activex is not blocked by your firewall or internet rules for the time the downloader is active. Second option is to download from another country ie try the australian server or english . I see you are in Kuwait so it maybe a local area issue so waiting can also help as Peter mentioned.

The file in the log
http://download.mcafee.com/molbin/iss-loc/msk/en-gb/affid/0/10.0.162/1/mskuc.cab

I am able to download that here on my machine without issues.. so its something there that is slowing the access.

Error 12002 means The operation timed out
Communications with the server have not been established. May be caused by a firewall or proxy configuration problem.

There are many reasons

IE 7 takes a lot of time while connecting to sites as it searches for phishing sites. So it results in a lot of time. (turn of the phishing filter and see if that helps)

By design, Internet Explorer imposes a time-out limit for the server to return data. The time-out limit is five minutes for versions 4.0 and 4.01 and is 60 minutes for versions 5.x and 6. Also, the time-out limit is 30 seconds for Windows Internet Explorer 7. As a result, Internet Explorer does not wait endlessly .

In general, if a page does not return within a few minutes, many users perceive that a problem has occurred and stop the process. Therefore, the server is designed to return data within 5 minutes so that users do not have to wait for an extensive period of time.

For this reason the files are broken up to many fragments (Cab files) and each packet is downloaded and server can return status data to update users (and Internet Explorer) on the process status.

IF YOU LOVE TO EXPERIMENT TRY THESE AT YOUR RISK
***********************************************
Although McAfee does not encourage/support this approach, you can change the default time-out setting for Internet Explorer.

1. Add a ReceiveTimeout DWORD value with a data value of (<number of seconds>)*1000 in the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
For example, if you want the timeout duration to be 8 minutes, set the ReceiveTimeout data value to 480000 (<8*60>*1000).
2. Restart your computer.

NOTE:BACKUP THE REGISTRY BEFORE YOU DO THIS AND IF IT DOES NOT WORK OUT REVERT THE CHANGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
