Recently my computer has slowed down when browsing the internet. Often a page will simply refuse to load. I am using Windows Explorer 9.
I am running McAfee Security Center on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with 9 gig ram.
Security Center has not detected any viruses or malware.
Initially, I was connecting to the interent via home wifi. I thought that might be an issue so I ran cat5e to the computer. No improvement.
Next I turned off the firewall and that seemed to improve things, The system is running faster but not like it was just a couple weeks ago.
I tried a restore point going back a few weeks but that didn't help.
Anybody have any suggestions. I am running several other computers through the same network and they are running just fine.
Thanks
Bruce
simlar things happening to me aswell =[ tho i'm using windows 7 home prem 32 bit and google chrome. could try google chrome, IE always been slow no matter what version
While browsing open your task manager and see if CPU is being maxed out.If so see what is using up your resources.I had this problem in the past with a Mcafee process.
It appears that this is a firewall issue.
I am able to surf the net without any delays when the firewall is off. But internet access is a crawl when the firewall is running.
Does anybody have any ideas as to why the firewall suddenly has slowed internet access to a crawl. McAfee has been on my computer for a couple years without any issues, then suddenly internet access slowed down.
Can McAfee's firewall be turned off and the windows firewall be used instead?
Thanks for any help.
