Same Error Message

I receive the same error message and scan termination at 25% into full scan.

Laptop running Vista x64 Home Premium

Sec Ctr: 9.1 (via Comcast)
Build: 9.11.109

Virus Scan: 13.11
Build: 13.11.102
Dat File: 5695 (also occurred with 5694)

It does NOT occur on my desktop running Vista 32-bit Home Premium

Both machines have this week's latest updates from Microsoft installed

There seems to be a work-around

I dug deeper into this forum, with many reporting like problems.

I saw a message that said to turn OFF Active Protection and that cures the problem of scanning for now. Expected fix is Monday's update.

I turned it off (Vista Home 64 bit) and was able to do a SCAN and I've not gotten ANY errors, warnings, or features being shutdown in the last 3 hours since I did this.

Same problem. Vista 64. Seems to be hitting many people.

I'm getting both "Error getting scan progress" and "On Demand Scan stopped working and was closed".

There seems to be multiple threads surrounding both these issues.

RE: There seems to be a work-around

Downloading the new DAT 5696 seems to have solved the issue for me. I stress tested all programs crashing the mcshield.exe before and couldn't reproduce the issue (fingers crossed). Seems to be stable now. I'd be really glad if this solved it, and i'd like to thank the MacAffee devs which have solved this problem. I know how hard it is to program something with this complexity for all platforms possible wink

RE: There seems to be a work-around

People affected by the issue with the Active protection on 64 bit platform may update to the latest dat by selecting update and then turn the active protection on after that.. The latest DATs must have fixed the issue.
