RE: 9.3, daily update, computer unprotected - fix

I dont know if this helps but.

Today is the first day it has downloaded an update and not turned itself off.

The only thing I did differently was to make sure I had NO other programs running and then ask it for an update.

It installed fine, not problems today.

I just thought its worth a try for others.

RE: 9.3, daily update, computer unprotected - fix

It's all okay as of today.

Well today's update (23 Feb) came down fine - and I didn't have to do anything. I forced the update, and it just pulled down, installed as per normal.

So my money's still on that dodgy DAT push from before!

Incidentally, I'm still waiting for the new SC and PFP on some of my machines... tick tock tick. Hopefully they'll be along soon.

Cheers,
Gopha.

I also had a positive update today. I wonder if we will ever learn exactly what the initial problem was.

RE: 9.3, daily update, computer unprotected - fix

Just got off the conference call. There was a "bad update" at some stage over the weekend that caused this. All should be well now.

There actually is a FAQ that has been in place for a while regarding such an instance.

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100615&lc=1033

It is linked directly off the page when you click Technical Support at the top left of the page. Look for the red box at the right.

RE: 9.3, daily update, computer unprotected - fix

Had it again this morning.

Download, installed, took ages, turned itself off, clicked fix, all ok.

I had all my programs open today, so maybe its conflicting with something when updatings.

Its getting a right drag now.

RE: 9.3, daily update, computer unprotected - fix

This has to be a conflict.

This morning, I did the same as the other day.

Before I started my other programs I have running, I did a check for updates, it downloaded and was perfect.

Yet, when I do it with my emails and browser open, it goes wrong.

Might be worth others trying this.

I had an update last night (24 Feb) and I had no problems at all. (I was guy who started this thread.)
