Yes also removing McAfee. Not being able to revert to an old version is crazy.
Any update on this issue?
Any more updates on this? It is very frustrating not being able to open Excel documents directly from Explorer.
Supposedly virusscan build 24.7.157 has a fix are you running that version
Running Office 2013 Excel on Windows 10 with McAfee VirusScan build 25.0.134
The problem still persists.
Will not open an excel file. "Running virus scan" then "error message OLE". Can't quit excel. Have to kill the process.
Workaround: turn off real time scanning, open an excel file, then turn on realtime scanning.
The 8/31 update did fix the issue seen with unable to open Word docs.
On another thread, I had posted a scenario where two of my PCs had received updates this week, and one no longer demonstrated the problem, and the other one still did.
I uninstalled and re-installed Total Protection, and the PC that had the problem no longer has issues opening Word or Excel files.
The latest updates (SecurityCentre 19.7.126 (updated Sept 6) and VirusScan 25.0.134 (updated Sept 7)) seemed to have resolved the problem for me.
Thanks for the confirmation.

I have updated to 16.0 R37 - and this is STILL not working. Again, I ask, what are the arrangements for refunding customers for every day this remains a problem?
Still unable to open Excel files. Same error message.
Using these builds:
LiveSafe 16.0 R37
SecurityCenter 19.7.126 (8/31/2021)
VirusScan 25.0.134
