I have been using mcafee security center for eight months with my dell laptop. For the past one week firewall is not turning on. If I turn on manually then it automatically turned off within a few seconds.
I downloaded malwarebytes' anti malware and mcafee stinger and scanned my computer. malwarebytes' removed a Trojan and I attached the log file of it.Then after mcafee shows that the "firewall is on" on the home tab. But it is not turned on and Iattached screen shot. I also used mcafee virtul support and shows an error 1608.
So kindly give a solution for this.

I have tried that but firewall did not turned on. I scanned my computer with windows security essentials. It found a trojan 'consrv.dll' in system 32 folder of windows. If it removes the trojan windows is unable to start. trojan name has 'sirefef:b'. So, how can I remove that?
Hi,
I just got this problem as well. Did you ever get this fixed? I downloaded the stinger program and it is not finding any problems. I have AT&T Internet Security Suite Powered by McAfee. McAfee Firewall turns off right away after attempting to turn it on.
Thanks.
Same problem with Windows 7 and Mcafee antivirus plus 2012.
Going back to Mcaffe total protection 2011 or something else..
Stinger did not work. The trojan "sirefef:b" directly attacked the "consrv.dll" in the system 32 folder. The trojan also affected the firewall of mcafee.
But how can a trojan enter my computer when I am using up to date licensed mcafee security center?
Due to that trojan I had to formatted the disk and re-installed the OS.
You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the Mcafee, If the firewall still won't turn on contact technical support.
I also have the same problem and I don't want to download any third party software just for the sake of fixing it. There should be a way do work it out.

No antivirus, no matter what brand, is 100% guaranteed to stop everything bad that is out there on the web. That's why there are special tools available and specialist forums dealing solely with the fight against malware.
