Unable to Remote Desktop / unable to manage windows firewall

Jump to solution

I have a new dell laptop with McAfee Live Safe. I am unable to remote desktop or allow firewall rule on port 3389.

After speaking to multiple "support associates" who seem to be eager to wash their hands off its not a McAfee issue, I am still unable to remote desktop.

So my options at this moment are,

1) disable mc afee firewall to check windows firewall. however this doesnt seem to help as the windows firewall settings are still same locked by mcafeee

2) uninstall mc afee

Unless some kind soul comes up with some suggestions

LiveSafe, being a Consumer product, I moved this out of Business to Consumer > Personal Firewall.

You state:

After speaking to multiple "support associates"

Could you clarify if that was Consumer Support or not and if so can you post a session ID # so I can alert our resident techs?

Thanks for that info.

can you check those service requests and see what's wrong here please?

Just as a note while we're waiting for Selvan to post.   Whenever I've remotely connected with anyone I have never had to do anything with the firewall settings.

The software that one installs to enable to remote desktop function usually sets it all up automatically.

Now that, I admit, is only when  I am the recipient of the remote connection.  I haven't tried it the other way around.

Hello Ice Man,

Please confirm if you are able to RDP with McAfee Firewall turned ON. If so mark this thread answered.

Cheers
