I have a problem that has arisen since upgrading to Secuity Centre 2010.
I have a network consisting of mixed ethernet and wireless connections and have partitioned it into trusted and blocked address ranges.
Trusted range 192.168.1.0 - 255
Blocked 192.168.1.6 - 252
The ethernet PCs have static IPs outside the blocked range.
Wireless PCs get IPs assigned by DHCP within the blocked range.
This worked OK until the upgrade to 2010 last weekend.
Now FPS has stopped working ie My Network Places gets access blocked when McAfee Firewall is ON.
I checked the History and Logs and saw that error messages were being generated for port 445.
I opened this port and after reboot FPS came back to life.
Is this a safe way to work?
Does Firewall not like overlapping address ranges?
I plan a further test splitting the trusted range to avoid the overlap but will wait a while to give users some stability.
