Operating system : XP
Security: Mcafee Antivirus Plus:
Printer: HP F4580 (wireless)
I am having issues of my printer losing connection with my network. I tried everything from static address to re-installing. I think I have narrowed it down to my McAfee firewall and the spooler. (Printer works when the firewall is disabled.) I noticed McAfee is limited to what can be done in this program. I need help. I not sure what needs to be unblocked or port needs to be open.
Hi,
Please try this,
Open McAfee Security center.
Click on Firewall > Setting s> Restore Default.
Click on Firewall > Settings.
* Check Program permission for Printer program and give full acces.
Click on Firewall > Setting > Ports and Systems services.
* Check the Windows File sharing & File transfer Protocol and click on apply.
Try to take print out....
Adding to the below , spoolsvc.exe- Printer Spooler Subsystem is what that allows you to print to a network printer. Hope you dont have issues after the suggested step.
I tried both your suggestions and I am still losing connection. I downloaded the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility and it still saying it is a firewall issue. Again, the connection works if i disable the mcafee firewall. Any other suggestions?
