contacted chat support:
he told me to reinstall mcafee total protection, didn't work.
unistalled firefox 10.0.2 and installd firefox 9.0.1.
did the trick, hope it helps
OK it's FF10 that's the problem. I'll report back what McAfee says about it on Monday.

Try using the older version of Firefox. I would say that I have encountered a lot of problem similar to what you have when I always have my browser updated.
The upcoming version of McAfee software, now in beta testing, does allow for it. The problem is with browsers reaching double-digit versions, believe it or not. It messed up the code. They are also working on making earlier versions compatible. It would probably arrive as an update requiring a restart, when it happens.
