Active X control came up this morning in a scan

Anyone know if this is a keeper or a loser? It won't delete!

I wouldn't worry about it as it is probably needed by a programme somewhere in order to function.   Microsoft applications such as Internet Explorer, Office, Visual Studio, Windows Media Player etc. use those.   See the definition here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ActiveX

Personally I leave all such things alone.

I get the same, but I have three that won't delete. The real question is why QuickClean has flagged them as deleteable. And the program ought to be more informative about items like this : I would like to know which ones are being flagged. Maybe the next update to QuickClean will show that.

I would imagine it simply flags any ActiveX it finds.  The thing is why would any software want to clean ActiveX controls considering Microsoft went to all the pains of installing them in the first place?

I find that particular feature of Quickclean curious to say the least.

I think the argument that they can be exploited is rather old and dated considering other security features safeguard against that.  If this was 3 or 4 years ago I'd probably think differently, although I personally never had problems with them.
