and it would be great if you got a direct answer to your question about whether 15.3.3085 is supposed to already contain the fix for the multiple QcShm.exe processes issue?
would one of you do that?selvan ? catdaddy ? Peacekeeper ?
thanks!
I have the Security Center version 15.4.4031 and haven't noticed this issue reoccur. You might need to wait until this version gets installed on your PC.
in response to brad_the_dad.
I have two PCs running Windows 7. One does not have QuickClean installed, so no QcShm.exe. processes at all. It has seen the "stuck in update" problem. It normally is not powered off unless we are out of town.
The other does have it installed and it is powered off at night and powered on in the morning. It has been up for about an hour now, and there are two copies of QcShm.exe already. It has also seen the "stuck in update" problem.
Five hours later, there are now 6 copies of QcShm.exe. One under my username and 5 under "system".
When I powered off last night, there were 9 copies of QcShm.exe running.
This morning I powered on and got the "stuck in update" problem again. I restarted, did a manual update leaving the window open, and was updated to version 15.4.4031 of Security Center (and 15.0.4013 of quick clean and the shredder). So I will monitor and hope the "stuck in update" problem goes away (or at least the grammer in the message might be corrected).
What version of The product R12 or 13
Internet Security is version 14.0 R13.
Also, since the update there is only one copy of QcShm.exe running.
I have also noticed the "stuck in update" problem appears to only occur when there is more to be updated than just the virus scan engine.
If that is the case, then it seems that your ' QcShm.exe ' issue is resolved. As well as your 'Stuck Updating' issue. While your Engine versions generally change on a daily basis, your other features basically only upgrade periodically when there is a New Version/Build.
Yes, the QcShm issue is likely resolved. I won't know about the "stuck in update" issue until the next update of something more than the daily engine update. I will continue to monitor.
Let's hope it remains the same , as we anticipate another Release/Upgrade end of month if all goes well.
All the BEST
CD
mine seems to have been updated on the 10th March, but still version R12,
so came home tonight to 91 occurrences of QcShm.exe !! after just 3days
Seems R13 has some of the resolve, but hopefully the next update will
also have the resolve for "stuck in update"
Already waited nearly 4months now, so another 2 weeks won't harm.
I wonder if McAfee will give free/discounted renewals for those of
us patient enough to see a resolve ??
