I using a Dell version of Mcafee in a WIN7 machine. In the Task manager I see, at this time, Qcshm.exe running 8 times. The number of processes seem to be growing. Is this normal?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Just got the update to 14.0R13 and the quickclean issue is fixed. BTW - My McAfee was bought from Dell.
It would be normal if you scheduled it to run and clean various different parts of the machine. I suggest you turn off the scheduled run of Quickclean and just run it when you need to.
Open the interface and click PC and Home Network Tools. Quickclean is in there.
Quickclean is not scheduled to run and I also unchecked all file type in Quicklean settings. I now have 9 copies running. Should I stop these processes?
Then there's a problem. I would end process on all of them. Run the Virtual Technician to see if it finds and fixes problems:
If the problem persists, contact Technical Support preferably by phone, or online chat: HERE.
Thanks - cannot end these processes - "Access Denied"
BTW they are really just taking up memory space, but no CPU cycles.

Oops I forgot to tell you that you'd need to turn off Access Protection temporarily to do that.
Open the interface.
Click Navigation and then General Settings and Alerts
Click Access Protection to expand
Turn off and click Apply.
Keep that open until you've finished and then simply turn it back on again.
Click Apply.
Thanks -
I ended all the Quickclean processes. After a while two new ones where started. This is repeatable. When Mcafee checks for an update - new process is started. If I go into the Quickclean menu - new process is started. I would guess that whenever Mcafee wants to "talk" to Quickclean it starts new process and never stops it.
Well now the Tech Team noticed it so it will get looked at soon we hope.
Good luck 😉
