VirusScan Mobile Notes & User Guide

For Windows Mobile 5.0 SmartPhone and Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard Edition

It only officially supports the following phones: "Motorola Q9H, iMate SP5M, Samsung SGH-I320N, HP IPAQ 510 Voice Messenger and the Dopod C720".

To use VirusScan Mobile as included in McAfee’s "Triple Play" offerings, McAfee Total Protection 2008 and McAfee Internet Security 2008 customers need a Microsoft Windows Mobile compatible mobile device using version 5 or 6 and a mobile/wireless data subscription. Customers can install VirusScan Mobile directly over the air; however additional charges for the wireless download of data may apply. Once installed on your mobile device, VirusScan Mobile will interact with McAfee for protection updates, for which additional charges may apply. Customers should contact their mobile network operator about Windows Mobile Device compatibility as well as for more information on individual mobile data plans. The VirusScan Mobile user license is limited to 1 year including software updates, full version upgrades and virus definitions updates.

Datasheet (PDF)

HERE

(Note the data sheet is old and gives the wrong address for downloads, it should read http://vsm.mcafee.com/

& the address given for a trial/demo version no longer exists, sorry. VSM is no longer offered for sale, as of Summer 2008, as a separate entity, only as a free download as part of the upper tier of packages.)

User Guide (PDF) HERE

If you don't have Adobe Reader installed then you can download it from the

Adobe™ website.

Qualified customers as outlined above can download it directly to their device at no extra charge using the instructions from their account page. There will be a link to it at the right-hand side of your download page.

This application is NOT being updated to cover higher Windows Mobile versions or different and newer phones so is now considered obsolete.
