McAfee antivirus suddenly saying FotaProvider is a trojan.

My phone is a Black view BV6000 , I have owned the phone for nearly 2 years and been running McAfee security products for 18 months.

Two days ago the scan my phone does each night suggested that FotaProvider is a trojan. This application is not removable from the device but my McAfee security products have not identified it as dangerous previously. With the alarm flagged up many of the features of my antivirus are unusable.

What can I do to rectify this alert?

Thanks

Re: McAfee antivirus suddenly saying FotaProvider is a trojan.

Hi,

I am having the same problem with a BQ Aquaris X5 phone. Two days ago the threat notification appeared offering the possibilty of disabling the Fota Provider app, but in fact it can't be disabled.

I contacted BQ support this morning and they say this is a mistake by McAfee and they have not had any problem with FotaProvider.

On my phone McAfee is set to auto-update once a day and I have just updatred the virus defintion. it hasn't solved the problem. Please advise.

Is FotaProvider really a trojan or is this a mistake? How do I deal with the threat notification?

Thanks
