Jump to solution

Hi,

I have HomTom HT16 phone with Android 6.

McAfee notified me about Artemis!sa363831f3e27 in WirelessUpdate (com.fota.wirelessupdate).

,

Okay....The Tier 3 Engineer has just sent me the following, please follow her suggestions. And confirm it is no longer detected.

Hi Cliff,

The app has been marked clean.

Please let the customer update the virus def and do a scan to check.

Thank you!

I will contact a Tier 3.0 Engineer on your behalf from the Mobile Malware Research Team. Detections are handled differently on phones.

Just to add that Kaspersky didn't detect any malware during full scan.

Re: WirelessUpdate Artemis notification

McAfee today scaned and detected Artemis!514a7d9a73f1

Official response from HomTom support:

If you disable the WirelessUpdate, you may not be able to upgrade the firmware automatically via FOTA in your phone.

Since this FOTA program will be activated automatically when there is a new firmware upgrade, McAfee Antivirus may regard it as a suspicious program and report it as a virus. However, actually, the FOTA is positive but not a virus.

,

I received the following correspondence back:

Hi Cliff,

Is it possible to collect logs?

Steps

1. Open McAfee Security on device

2. Tap the top bar 10 times with-in 20 seconds.

3. Scan to start logging activity (Toaster Message) "Logging enabled"

4. Run the scan/record the issue.

5. Tap the bar 10 times to Stop the logging

6. (Toaster message) Logging stopped

7. We will need the IMEI number to pull the logs.

Regards,

Amitabh
