Unwanted Apps Keep Installing

Hello. I recently downloaded McAfee Mobile Security on my Android phone. At one point when I was typing some information on a forum, a CM Launcher app appeared and wanted me to set it up. Also, I was working in another app and all of a sudden a Huff Post app appeared. Over several days others apps that I have never heard of continue to install and then I must delete them from Apps Settings.

I had done a McAfee scan prior and after these apps appeared and the McAfee Security states that my phone is secured. Also, just in case I did have malware, I did a factory reset. Yet, the apps continue to download.

What causes this to happen? Anytime this happens, I fear that I might have a virus. Is there anything I can do to stop these apps from suddenly appearing?

It's probably because you clicked on an ad....however this is what Google Search says for your issue:

  1. Check the security settings: Settings. ...
  2. Uncheck Automatic Updates: Google Play. ...
  3. New Apps Might Contain Adware: News Apps. ...
  4. Change Google password: Google Password. ...
  5. Delete Rogue Apps: Rogue Apps. ...
  6. Don't Click On Advertisements: Advertisements. ...
  7. Try a Factory Reset: Factory Reset. ...
  8. Clean Your Memory Card: Format Memory Card.

  • Eligibility: McAfee® Identity Monitoring Service Essentials is available within active McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe subscriptions with identity monitoring for up to 10 unique emails.
