Should I turn off McAfee during upgrade

I’m on Big Sur on a MacBook Pro 2020 (intel chip, not M1). I’ve back up the laptop, deleted junk, have loads of space, used disk utility to optimize, deleted DMG’s, updated what little software I have on it, including McAfee. The version of that I have is compatible with Sonoma. What I can’t find anywhere is if antivirus/firewalls from third parties need to be disabled during upgrade.

Re: Should I turn off McAfee during upgrade

Hi @kehanopni

Greetings from McAfee.

We would like to inform you that there is no requirement to turn OFF McAfee firewall during upgrades. McAfee firewall wouldn't stop any software or application updates. If you are experiencing any issues similar to that please be contacted our chat support in the below link for an immediate assistance.
