Problem with Yahoo hijacking Google Search on MAC and Safari

I have BT Virus Protect ver 4.11.1.0 (1015) installed to protect my MacBook. It has recently picked up a problem with Google search and now always returns a Yahoo result. I understand this is malware and is redirecting my searches.

Running a scan on McAfee does not pick it up. It does however pick it up on Web Adviser and blocks it as a security risk listing the following site as the problem.

http://search.operativeeng.com

I have tried a number of things to remove it to no avail. Is there anything I can do.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Maybe it's due to web advisor that re directs to Yahoo. When you add web advisor it defaults search to Yahoo. go to web advisor settings and you can change it.

Thanks for your reply.

I cannot find any reference to Yahoo in the settings

I have turned off the WebAdviser extension in Safari and turned off WebAdviser in McAfee and it is still redirecting to Yahoo. It no longer blocks any searches.

If WebAdviser is blocking all my Google searches with a warning it must think there is a problem. It must have something to do with the reference to "operativeeng.com" on the block page.

I have managed to get this fixed using Malwarebytes. Running this program found 4 files which it isolated. Yahoo no longer takes over my searches.

Question is should McAfee have picked this up. I will continue using McAfee in the hope it will stop the files being downloaded again.
