Hi,

SiteAdvisor is an integrated part of Internet Security for Mac. Consequently, site Advisor will not be removed unaccompanied. But it can be disabled from its feature.

To uninstall SiteAdvisor, you must also uninstall Internet Security for Mac. For instructions, see TS101226

Please try these steps to stop SiteAdvisor pop-up and let us know the issue status.

  1. Click the McAfee menulet in the menu bar (at the top of the screen near the clock) and select McAfee LiveSafe - Internet Security Console.
  2. Click on Gear icon (settings) on top right of McAfee console and click on McAfee® SiteAdvisor
  3. Click the lock and type your administrator password if prompted.
  4. Disable SiteAdvisor®
  5. Open Safari
  6. Click on Safari on menubar and choose preferences
  7. Click on Extensions tab
  8. Enable McAfee SiteAdvisor extension

It will stop the prompt to enable SiteAdvisor on Safari, concomitantly SiteAdvisor has no functionality on safari.

Karthik K

Hi,

This solution is applicable for McAfee 3.x version but not for 4.x version.

If its 4.x version, try the steps below:

I, too, have this problem. I, too, have contacted web chat support about it. The reason I don't wish to 'enable' the Safari extension is because it requests permissions that I don't want to grant it. But as indicated in the tech support response, that seems to be the only way to stop Safari nagging. Since the extension is 'forced' into Safari at runtime (which is what causes the nag), why can't the McAfee software that does this at least check first whether the functionality has been turned off in the LiveSafe console? Wouldn't that be more consistent than requiring users to enable an unwanted extension with high privilege?
