LiveSafe's hwupdchk.exe taking 25-30% of my CPU

LiveSafe's hwupdchk.exe is taking 25-30% of my CPU on an Intel NUCi7.

Other than the performance hit, it makes the fan work all the time, which is really annoying at night.

I can kill the process in the task manager, but it comes back.

I can find the file in Windows Explorer, but I can't delete it.

A post on this topic from 2017 provided no help.

please help!
