Same issue as all others with Total Protection 16.0 R36. Launch Excel 2013, and open a file, or double-click on an Excel file in File Explorer to launch Excel, and virus-scan kicks in and eventually I get the "Microsoft is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action."
As others have said, turning off Real Time Scanning alleviates the problem, but that is a temporary work-around that puts the system in jeopardy. What is needed is a correction to Total Protection and a change to allow entire folders or groups of files (i.e, *.xls, *.xlsx, etc.) to be excluded from Real Time Scanning.
This problem is taking a long time to fix? We should be able to restore to a previous working version so we can continue. I have users that don't have admin rights and can't change McAfee settings so they are stuck. Will have to load a different AntiVirus program soon!
Hello. Please let us know how we can do a rollback to a previous version, or we will need to change McAfee from the company.
We cannot hold an office with people stucked without opening excel files.
The 'work-around' provided doesn't work.
Better would be to temporarily stop running Real Time Scanning, then open a new, empty Excel file, then immediately turn Real Time Scanning back on, and keep that empty Excel file open all day long, and don't use it. Any other Excel files you now open while you already have an Excel file open, will not be affected by the issue, at least, that's how it seems to work for me.
why is this still not fixed? Why are we paying for an AV product that stops us using files?
Could we receive an update on this issue or is there a website where we can see the current release notes for versions that are live? That would be helpful for those of us who are supporting users who are experiencing this issue but don't have it installed on our own machines.
Thanks.
Management decided to remove McAffee. Congratulations guys. 250 licences down the drain.
