Absolutely Rainer, isolated to the Firefox browser and no related to the True Key extension, if it would be then you would have had the same behaviour and experience under the Chrome browser.

It is what I was thinking as my tests to try to reproduce this issue on Firefox came up also negative so it is isolated to your client (system) and to your Firefox browser.

You can try updating or reinstalling the Firefox browser and also check opn another system if using the same browser you are able to reproduce the issue. Having said that I noticed lately several issues with the Firefox browser in terms of performance and optimization related to our True Key extension, while Chrome continues to be a more stable and reliable extension.

Let me know if this helps you.

Thanks,

Marc D.

Hallo,

Jump to solution

Hallo,

Hi there,

If I understand correctly, the issue is that sometimes True Key in invoked to auto login you in and other times, it is Google own password manager that does.

There is a setting within Google Chrome: chrome://settings/passwords where the option for Chrome to save passwords can be disabled and have a tird party passwrd manager like True Key do it instead all    the time.

I believe by default if both are on,  Chrome will have precedence over any other password manager as it is their own browser you are using. Even if the Google Chrome password manager is disabled, Chrome may ask to save and use the passwords.

Thanks,

Marc D.

As requested by a private message I have created an English translation of my previous post.

It is a PDF file which I would like to append to this post. But I can't see how to do this.

Please provide me with a Mail adress to which I can send the file.

Hallo,

MfG,

Petja

Hi folks,

in a private message McAfee people requested me to provide an English translation of my original post.

I produced such a document with a detailed desdcription and tried to mail it to them using the answer function. This did not work because they send their mails from a noreply- address.

In my last post i asked for a mail address which is read by somebody. But so far no response, only nonsense which they claim to be a solution.

Just to make my findings clear to everybodey

1. There exists quite a number of websites - among them e.g. DHL.DE - where TrueKey does not recognize the input fields for accesss data.

2. If you have more than just one set of acces data for one website - e.g. 2 accounts with the same bank- and you bring up the bank's website then TrueKey tries to give you a selection list of stored userid/password combinations. (TrueKey symbol in the field, Right mouse-click has menu item, add login data.) But the content of this list is NOT taken from TrueKey's own login list, instead it is taken from the bwower's - in this case firefox's - internal password storage.  So, when you want the comfort to be able to select the correct data you are forced use to Firefox's password storage and when you want to have it protected wit a master password you have to enter this with every use of Firefox. Qite cumbersom.

Good morning Rainer,

I received the link of your post here and let me first thank you fo the effort in translating it for me.

Having said that, I will answer you as best as I can considering that there might be some language barrier and you well best supported calling our German support line.

Regarding your #1, if some websites dont work but others do work with the True Key instant login, the issue is not with the True Key browser extension but rather with these specific websites, you see if a website changes anything on their content script it tends to break our login to this website that will need to be optimize to work again with our instant login feature.

In this case, there are 2 ways you can report this broken websites to us:

- Directly from the Firefox or Chrome browser extension, right click on the True Key icon on the top right of the browser, and in the sub-menu you will find with the first one- True Key by McAfee a drop-down menu: "I wasn't logged in to this website", this submission will come straight to our team.

-The other option, is that you contact the German support team and provide to them the specific URL's that are not working so they can compile a list and send them to us.

Regarding your #2, you are correct and if you have same domain credentials stored in your True Key app it should normally provide you with a drop down menu to choose the specific login you want to use. In this case, it is possible that the Firefox browser is getting in the way with the True Key app abiity to save passwords and provide instant login to a website.

Please make sure that in the firefox browser settings: Options- Privacy & Security- that in the forms & passwwords the option for "Remember logins and passwords for websites" is disabled and that "Autofill addresses" is enabled.

I hope this will help and if there is anything I can do please let me know.

Thanks,

Marc D.
