McAfee LifeSafe slows down 2 laptops

Hi altogether,

I have purchased the McAfee LiveSafe and installed it on two laptops with Window 10.

On laptop A, which is the faster one I have a CPU usage of around 14% during a full system scan. From taht amount MfeAVSvc.exe uses around 10%, mcshield.exe in between 20% and 40% and several other McAfee related processes use usually 10% in total as well. So actually that isn't much, nevertheless my overall experience is really bad as everything is slowed down. The response time for everything is really high, which includes opening programs, websites and even hovering over icons takes almost a second to highlight it. Laptop A has 4 cores with hyperthreading and 2.8 GHz, 16 GByte RAM and a fast SSD.

On laptop B I have a CPU usage of 100% during a full system scan. The process share of that is similar to the one I described above or even worse. This one is the slower laptop, but actually it shows the same behaviour as laptop A. Laptop B has 4 cores without hyperthreading and 1.6 GHz, 16 GByte RAM and an SSD as well. Laptop B is one month old and has only a few programs installed.

Everything slowed down RIGHT AFTER I had installed McAfee LifeSave. What can be the reason for this? What can I do about it? Before I installed McAfee only Windows Defender was active and installed.

Thanks for any reply!

Re: McAfee LifeSafe slows down 2 laptops

Regarding laptop B I have to correct that it has not 16 GByte RAM but 4 GByte. And indeed 3.8 GByte from 4.0 GByte were in use. But essentially it was still the same behaviour as on laptop A. For both the laptops the energy usage preset was set to maximum power. Furthermore they were both neither running on battery.

By the way: in the meanwhile laptop B has finished the full system scan and everything runs quite normal again though I am not fully sure abaout it yet. So mainly the full system scan seems to be responsible for the slow down. Can I adjust the full system scan in a way that it doesn't make my laptop unusable for the time it scans?
