Re: whats the difference between McAfee® Total Protection Household and family

thank you Peacekeeper

I would like to get the Total Protection Household as its £39.99 - 48% cash  £19.19 total price £20.78.

to pay £44.99 to get Total Protection family an extra £24.19 to get a free VPN is a bit much.

It would actually work out more than £24.19 not everything that comes with Total Protection is comparable with macOS also to get the VPN i would have to have auto  renew switched on I would have to switch the auto renew off losing the VPN just after 10 months or I would be charged £89.99 for a second year at 11 months.

I thought auto renew was supposed to help you so the product dose not run out. McAfee linking the VPN and Id protection to the auto renew are making  you compromise your online securety after 10 months if you decide to leave them and switch off the auto renew and the VPN and id protection. It may be legal but I question the morality.

Re: whats the difference between McAfee® Total Protection Household and family

I use livesafe free as it is a 4 year trial given as I was a volunteer mod here since 2003. I also pay for a vpn.(not Mcafee)

The thing to remember the first year is always a good price and the renewal is well a tad higher. One, I hear, always can call customer service and whinge and I have seen 50% discounts given so the posters say.

I hope household works well for you and good luck.

Re: whats the difference between McAfee® Total Protection Household and family

Peacekeeper I think you miss my point I know the first year is cheep and the second year is charged at full price even the auto renew is a good if you want to keep using the product.

Its how McAfee say pay for Total Protection family and they will give you a VPN and identity protection FREE as long as you have auto renew active. Both the VPN and identity protection are good things to have  and being free is even better in my opinion. If you are like me I like to evaluate the product and make a decision at the end of the year and consider if I want to keep using the product If the auto renew is off and I forget that the year is ending I get reminders to renew the product. McAfee by linking the VPN and identity protection to the auto renew are making you compromise your online security 2 months before your contract would end by turning of the auto renew If you do not want to keep using McAfee. You have to turn the Auto renew off after 10 months and lose the free VPN and identity protection as McAfee takes the auto renew payment at the beginning of the 11th month.

If McAfee® Total Protection family is a good quality product why dose McAfee use this legal but underhanded way of linking the VPN and identity theft to the Auto renew in the knowing that a lot of people will forget to switch the auto renew off and get charged for another year.

Re: whats the difference between McAfee® Total Protection Household and family

Point taken. I agree a sneaky way of getting next year's subscription at full price. One can get a refund but really those nag screens are a pain I hear. As is chasing a refund.

Anyway good luck with whatever way you go.
