Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

I was about to call it a day ( On since 5:00am EST). My software just updated to 16.3.163 also.

No restart required and All is functioning properly. This is on my Windows 7 SP1 64-bit.

Action Center recognizes McAfee software as well.

Good Night all........

Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

I was having the same problem with one of my laptops after updating to 16.0.03. It is running Windows 10 Home. I tried the suggestion about stopping and restarting the service and ran into the same 'access denied'. I then rechecked for updates, and the update was re-installed. Still had the warnings about the real time scanning and the firewall. The icon in the task bar was greyed with a red symbol superimposed on it. I also restarted several times.

While searching for answers in this community on my desktop, I glanced again at my laptop and the icon was back to normal. All services were running ok, and now warnings from Windows.

I guess that the update just takes a long time to complete. This is worry some as I really do not know what kind of protection is running when these updates take more than a few minutes. I was almost ready to re-install McAfee.

Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

Have you done a restart?   For me, the warnings did go away after a manual update completed, but they returned when I restarted the PC.  And I power down at night and restart in the morning and they are still there today.

Did a manual update today, got the latest Virus Scan engine (3083) and warnings are still there.

Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

Also, my second PC was updated today.  But instead of getting 16.0.3,  it received a new build of 16.0.2,

security center version 16.2.146, dated 8/23/17.  It had been on 16.2.142 since 8/12/17.  Vscan engine is 3083, dated 8/23/17.

Why wouldn't it have received 16.0.3?

Or can I get back to 16.0.2?

Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

hello

I wasn't able to replicate the issue that you posted. I originally had 16.0.2 with the security center build 16.2.146 from which I updated to 16.0.3 release. The security center build post the upgrade was 16.3.163.

Only thing that is distinct from the previous updates was that it took a while to download and Install the updates. I was able to run a full scan without any issues.

Re: update to 16.0.3 was troublesome

I was updated today to security center 16.3.173.  The warnings from windows activity center finally went away, so it finally recognized that I did have valid virus protection, firewall setting and ok for defender to be off after over a month.

Still overall at 16.0.4, waiting for 16.0.4.

Yes, I have had 16.3.173 for 2 weeks now. 16.4 is indeed coming.
