screen icon

Jump to solution

Hello. Can anyone advise how to make the PC screen icon stay in the top left hand corner where I want it. Each time I use the PC, it has returned to somewhere in the middle of the screen. Not a serious matter but annoying.

Thanks for your help. Not being technically minded, I have clicked on the icon and tried to create a shortcut. Rightclicking as I normally would does not work at all. How do I create a new short cut for this product.

Go to Start >All Programs > McAfee > Total Protection (or whatever the name is of your suite)  and right-click it and select 'Send to' then select 'Desktop (Create Shortcut)' and a shortcut will be placed on your desktop which you can then move anywhere you want by clicking and dragging it and hopefully it will stay where you put it.

It's a known issue.  Delete the icon that the software made automatically and then create a shortcut to the SecurityCenter item in your Start/All Programs menu.  That one should stay wherever you put it and sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.  However, we appreciate your feedback on McAfee product. We will try to incorporate this feature in upcoming McAfee versions.

I have a SHORTCUT ICON issue also, and none of the responses here fix it.  I'm using Win 7pro and I don't use desktop shortcut icons period.  I cannot delete McAfee's shortcut, as it returns everytime I restart the computer.  I have McAfee on the taskbar, there is no reason I need it on the desktop but it will not go away.  This seemed to start after the latest product update. (McAfee Security Center)  Any ideas?

Thanks......

There's a very long thread on this and this post in particular from McAfee states what the problem is:  https://community.mcafee.com/message/219977#219977   - the fix will be posted to that thread whenever it is released.
