"McAfee Internet Security 2010" disk won't install

Jump to solution

I recently purchased "McAfee Internet Security 2010" at an OfficeMax store.
(Product Key:removed for your safety)

I tried to install it on an HP Pavillion dv8000 with Windows XP SP3.

After inserting the disk the main menu appears. When I click on install
I receive the following message:

"McAfee Integrated Security Platform Installer
----------------------------------------------
McAfee Integrated Security Platform Installer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience."

I have tried this several times, including rebooting the system,
but I always get the same message and can go no further.

I also tried an older McAfee disk but received the same message.

Please help.

Go to Control Panel, then open Add or Remove Programs and check if you have MSXML 3 installed.

if it's not there please download and install it via the link below: simply download and install the file named msxml3.msi.

after  installing it... run the McAfee removal tool, reboot and reinstall the software from your online account ... post back if it resolves your issue... hope this  helps...

Glad to help. 😉  Make sure you keep your system up to date with both critical and non-critical updates.
