mcafee installer will not work

i have had mcafee for 2 years with no problems... in a few days my free facebook subscription is running out so i decided to uninstall it today and download the bt net protect plus because we been paying for it and didnt even realise it..... i unistalled mcafee using the add/remove feature and then used the removal tool to remove the left overs...... i deleted all the temps and cookies , and even used the preinstall and everytime i try it it says "mcafee intergrated security platform installer has stopped working"

ive spent seven hours trying to make it work and endlessly googling for help, but everything says try the same things, the removal and preinstall stuff..... i removed mbam and even disabled my vista firewall and STILL could not make it work....

ive reinstalled mbam and another AV for the minit, scanned my system and its completely clean...  ive tried EVERYTHING i can think of......   can somebody PLEASE help me because mcafee has been good to me for two years and i dont want to start trusting another product......

im using a samsung r519    2years old..

                     windows vista

                     service pack 2

                     bt broadband option 3

have made NO changes to my system, dont use torrents or download dodgy stuff, so i just don not understand the problem.

also mbam and the other av downloaded without a problem.......

im not sure if ive posted in the right section,,,if not feel free to move it to the appropiate place.

thankyou for the quick reply, alhtough i dont quite see how your advice will help...i cant INSTALL mcafee in the first place so theres nothing the techs can do if i allow them access...also ive read so many  other people with the same problem and the tech advise seems to be the same and not helpfull...

its definaltly a fault with the mcafee installer... is there no way to download it as a full direct file or sumthing??

i decided to install the virtal help thing and followed the instructions given to me and it STILL does not work.....

Try running the MCPR tool (latest version linked under Useful Links above) again and reboot immediately afterwards.

Make sure you have completely removed any other A/V product and used their removal tool if necessary.

Run the pre-install tool:  http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe

Try again using the online account.

If more problems then I need to know what version of Internet Explorer is installed, regardless of your default browser settings.

i have to goto work in a min ,but ill do it all again when i come home tonight....

i have IE 8 , but again now, but i downgraded it to seven to see if that worked and still the same problem.......... i cant upgrade to 9 because it just keeps crashing.

That's indicative of something amiss because you should be using IE9 actually so uninstall any other IE's you have (I hope that's what you did when you state downgraded).

Run Hijackthis and post its log on one of the following forums for specialist analysis.

thankyou for your help....by donwngraded i mean i went to the uninstall feature in vista and it reverted to IE7.......

im going to delete the AV i have now and try again , if not ill run hijack this.....its just i work stupid hours so its a time thing.....

Well the only IE that McAfee has problems with is anything beta or RC, so I would install IE9.

i managed to download IE 9 now, the crash was caused by graphics acceleration or something......       i uninstalled all my other av stuff, run the removal and preinstall and STILL get the same error message trying to install mcafee...

ive just run hijack this, had a look at it myself and couldnt really see anyhting wrong...ill upload  it to one of the sites you mentioned, probably majorgeeks.... thanks for the help.
