how to remove fake mcafee pop ups

I keep getting these popups saying stuff like "virus detected (5) your computer is damaged by suspicious programs. to remove the virus, click in" and "computer under attack". I have no extensions. This happened after I tried to find a free download of SWAT 4 off google (I am aware how stupid that decision was but never mind that for now, I did find a legitimate download) they are all coming from this and are coming up every prompting me to spend 100 dollars to renew the subscription. This is obviously a scam. A similar thing happened to me on an old phone a while back, however I just disabled the notifications, and nothing bad happened. also keep in mind I am new to computers, so I am apparently still learning how to not be stupid. If you know a way to remove these, and scan the rest of my computer, that would be nice.
