Re: .cab files

Ah well that certainly shouldn't take nearly as long as that to scan, must be a corrupted file then.  Have you any idea which file(s) it's sticking on exactly?

Re: .cab files

I excluded the zipped files and removed the check from Scan using minimal resources and the scan took about 40 minutes. I then went back and did another one and included the zipped files and it went back to the lengthy scan. It seems to have a real problem with a file that is listed as C:\...\SIww.cab and then C:\...\SIww2.cab. It will just sit there for an hour or more? I do a search and can't locate that file on my pc.

Re: .cab files

Google seems to indicate that is something to do with the Microsoft Office installer files.  Try deleting them but keep them safe at least in your recycle bin or on removable media just in case.  Then test to see if anything malfunctions after a reboot.

Re: .cab files

Hello.  I am soooo glad I came across this thread.  I also have the same issue.

I have a new HP Mini 110 Netbook (Windows 7 Starter - SP 1 - 32 bit).  I did my first scan and it got hung up at 25% for a long time.  It was stuck C:\...\SIww.cab for 20-30 minutes and was stuck at C:\...\SIww2.cab for at least 20-30 minutes again.  Other ones that took a while are c:\SWSetup\Adobe\Data1.cab.

It seems to be .cab files.  Is this normal?  My laptop before this (it was a Lenovo Thinkpad that ended up crashing after a 5 years) only took 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete.

I don't want to delete things I shouldn't so any suggestions?  Has this been solved?

Thanks,

northernva2000

EDIT / ADDITION ----> I DOUBT these are corrupted files unless it was corrupted right out of the box.  Like I said, VERY new netbook.  As soon as I started it up, one of the first things I did was download McAfee (from my ISP - Cox Communications).
