Windows Firewall being controlled by McAfee

hello,

I have 2 questions:

Windows firewall reports that it is being controlled by McAfee. Does that mean that McAfee makes use of windows firewall to block connections? Like through an API or something. And acts more like a user interface for configuration?

If I create a rule in windows firewall advanced settings (I am allowed to do that, even if mcafee as control of the windows firewall), will that rule be enforced? I noticed rules in the mcafee firewall don't show up in Windows Firewall as a rule.

I want to understand the relationship between these 2 programs, can anyone clarify?

I know many years ago we volunteer mods were told that McAfee firewall did use components of the windows firewall. What ones and why we were not told. I think McAfee would keep this info close to their chest and not pass on.

We understand that your looking for clarification of how windows firewall and McAfee firewall works, here are the answers below.

• Windows Action center does shows any Antivirus program running on the computer and 3rd party firewall installed on the device as it does interfere the network communication of the default windows settings

                                 1 .McAfee has its own firewall with its own API and use it to block connections according to the rules created on McAfee Firewall

• McAfee firewall rules are different from Windows firewall rules, hence both doesn’t show up on each other, also as McAfee doesn’t disable the windows firewall and allows you to configure the firewall rules as you wish.
