When I left click on the M icon and go to product setup, I can't type in my registry code. It just won't let me click in the box or type at all. The window isn't frozen as I can still click Cancel. I have a Dell Windows XP, SP 3 and McAfee Total Protection 2010, I purchased it at Wal-Mart and installed it. It lets me download updates and everything else, but it won't let me run virus scans and do things you must be registered to do. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the internet and cd and the Virtual Technician told me nothing was wrong. Any suggestions?

When You uninstalled did you use the mcpr tool in the link above(useful links tab)? You have not had another AV program installed? Date and time correct for locality choosen?
Do the uninstall and run the preinstall tool as well.http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreinstall.exe
If all no go use the customer service link in the same useful link tab to see if they can assist.

I used the MPCR Tool and the Pre-Installer and it now lets me register, thank you very much for your help.
