Re: When I click 'check for updates', DAT version 6809 doesn't update to 6811?

nish_rulez ... in a previous message you mentioned to monitor the DAT update to see if clicking 'Check for updates' works for the next DAT update...

So, as you know I had to manually do a DAT update to go from 6809 to 6811. Well, since DAT 6812 is now available, I figured I'd try and click 'Check for updates' to see if the update vehicle works now inside of mcafee...

...but I got an error. Mcafee found the new DAT file, and had a wheel turning next to 'Checking for updates', then 'Downloading updates'...but then it gave me an error message. (I should have written down what the error message was. If I get it again next time [when DAT 6813 is released], I will).

So I went to download DAT 6812 manually from http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx ...double clicked the 6812xdat.EXE...and it updated my 6811 to the latest DAT (6812).

So, again, not sure if something is wrong with the auto-update vehicle or not...but when DAT 6813 is released, I'll check again (and I'll copy down any error message I get) and we can go from there.

Re: When I click 'check for updates', DAT version 6809 doesn't update to 6811?

Hello Peter.  When I looked in "about" at 7 pm I had Dat 6809.  At about 8:15 I used the "check for updates" on my homepage, and the check ran, and I now have dat 6812  dated 8/22/12

I guess it either skipped dat 6811,  or I got both dat 6811 and dat 6812  in the same update if that's possible

Interesting, hopeless1 . . . I just manually updated and went from 6809 to 6812 . . . the boot dat version shows 6802.0000 . . . is that what yours shows? Thanks

Glad you are updating OK.  That's 6812.0000 you mean I think ms421?

Re: When I click 'check for updates', DAT version 6809 doesn't update to 6811?

ms421, FYI, my DAT version is showing 6812 and my Boot DAT version is showing 6802. So, I'm in the same boat as you. Although, I think it might load 6802 DAT simply when booting the computer and check only necessary and minimum files ...and then once the computer it loaded, mcafee then uses the 6812 DAT.

I think that's what I read elsewhere in the threads, so maybe it's not an issue since it still uses 6812, but uses 6802 on boot. Not sure if it needs 6812 for boot. But I'm not entirely sure.

Re: When I click 'check for updates', DAT version 6809 doesn't update to 6811?

yes the boot dat is different from the dat...I answered you in another thread that my AntiVirus Plus 2012 shows both dats when there's an update. I think Peter explained that AntiVirus Plus 2012 was different than the 2011 version I previously had installed. Somewhere I asked the question about boot dat

my boot dat is now 6802  dat is 6812
