Virus Scan is not working in McAfee Total Protection.

Hello,

I have an active subscription of McAfee Total Protection but still McAfee says that the 'Computer is at risk'.

 

When I go to PC Security tab then I see that the real time scanning is off. When I click on it then the Features screen comes up which asks to add VirusScan to existing McAfee protection. I click the checkbox and click next, McAfee downloads and installs VirusScan. When it is done, there is Finish button, I click on Finish and even then 'Computer is at risk'.

Even Windows say that there is No Virus Protection installed. I am using Windows7 on a lenovo PC.

Also, whenever I restart my PC, I have to download and install VirusScan again using above stated method.

I've tried MVT and it shows me some errors that it can't solve. I've also uninstalled and re-installed McAfee but that didn't make any difference.

What is the issue with McAfee/VirusScan? Please help solve this problem.

When you uninstalled did you use the removal tool MPCR as well as the windows removal.

Have you had any other Antivirus installed on the laptop if so remove it /run its own removal tool.

If still an issue call support and if they cannot assist ask for an escalation callback

  • Safe Connect VPN:  You will receive free, unlimited access to our VPN wireless on supported devices. Users not on auto-renewal have access to 500 MB/month of bandwidth.

  • Eligibility: McAfee® Identity Monitoring Service Essentials is available within active McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe subscriptions with identity monitoring for up to 10 unique emails. Phone number monitoring is enabled upon activation of Automatic Renewal. Not all identity monitoring elements are available in all countries. See Product Terms of Service for more information. 
  • Your subscription is subject to our License Agreement and Privacy Notice. Product features may be added, changed or removed during the subscription term. Some features may require registration and a valid ID number to activate. See System Requirements for additional information.
  • While McAfee Identity Monitoring Service provides you tools and resources to protect yourself from identity theft, no identity can be completely secure.
  • US Only:
    Fair Credit Reporting Act: You have numerous rights under the FCRA, including the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report(s). Consumer reporting agencies are required to investigate and respond to your dispute, but are not obligated to change or remove accurate information that is reported in compliance with applicable law.
