Updated yesterday - Blank screen

Yesterday a routine update got installed and today my computer remained stuck with a black screen while starting.

Is McAfee to blame or is it Windows 7?

What can I do?

Re: Updated yesterday - Blank screen

I had heard of this internally but you're the first person to post about it that I have seen.   I believe that it isn't McAfee related and this article may help:  http://www.pcworld.com/article/183440/windows_black_screen_of_death_what_you_need_to_know.html

Check it out along with the "fix" that is linked there and let me know.

The firm that provides the fix may not be reliable. So I'm not going to try that fix. I'm not expert enough to fix much if it goes wrong.

Now I used my restart disk (acronis) and the computer works fine.

Glad you are OK now.  That firm is OK by the way.
