Update Pop Up Windows

I have the updates set up to notify me when available, so a rectangle window pops up and I click download update.  But for the last week or two, another update window is popping up as well.   It's different and maybe a bit smaller and says "Update for full protection. Update now to make sure your'e runing the best of the best.  You might need to restart your pc."   And there's a button to click, which I do.

So why this new window is popping up?   And is it a different update than the one I always got (and still get)?

Thanks.

Re: Update Pop Up Windows

@steve7

Please let us know whether the popup is from McAfee or Windows. Also, share the screenshot for "Update for full protection. Update now to make sure your'e runing the best of the best.  You might need to restart your pc."

Siva

Re: Update Pop Up Windows

I'm getting it too every day when I log in. It's for McAfee of course, which is why we're here. This is new and different, and I'm sure it's for updating in conjunction with my settings but to update for whatever McAfee considers to be "full protection." The text below the heading, which is "Update for full protection" is "Update now to make sure you're running the best of the best. You might need to restart your PC." The best of the best? What? I cannot refuse the update. I can delay it but I cannot stop it. It concerns me. Again this started about 2 weeks ago.

Re: Update Pop Up Windows

While we await a mod to pass by some questions

1. Are you allowing automatic updates or doing them manually?

2. You haven't McAfee security scan installed ie installed when you updated adobe. If so uninstall it as it is a marketing tool and could throw up popups.

Just a couple of ideas as I never see these.

Re: Update Pop Up Windows

Automatic Updates are turned On but I have it set to notify me when updates are available. The McAfee security scan is not installed. Read again what's happening. McAfee is now telling me that there are updates to install every time I log in. Perhaps I need to keep it opening at startup, if that's the new problem. I didn't change anything but now things are different. I have Adobe products not to update automatically and have not updated any. The McAfee change is not related to that.

Something has changed that is not right.

(I just turned off automatic updates. I'll update periodically.)
