Unable to update extra.dat file

I am trying to paste the extra.dat file into the folder C:\Program Files\McAfee\VirusScan\DAT\5959.0 but it says access denied. I am using the system as an administrator. My operating system is Windows Vista.

Please help.

Re: Unable to update extra.dat file

Hi sunvit,

Please try to disable access protection and then try to paste the extra DAT .

1.Double-click the M icon in your taskbar.
2. Select Navigation.
3. Select General Settings and Alerts.
4. Open the Access Protection drawer.
5. Clear the checkbox beside Use Access Protection.
6. Click Apply and close SecurityCenter.

Kindly update me so the status with a screen shot if any error occurs .
