I went to reinstall my Mcafee Total Protection on my Dell WIndows 7 Laptop, i new type of installer gets loaded that will not let me chose custom install it installs the whole suite, which certain items i do not want installed. I tried online tech support and they were essentially no help. Is there a way to get the custom installer, and why is it for my laptop only. When i use my pc and do a reinstall the older installer pops up with custom install options. i am not sure if it treating my laptop as a mobile device such as a smart phone? But this did not use to happen. Looking to see if there is a link to the installer i want. When i select download it list PC, not mobile device.
Any Help would be appreciated
I recently did a 'Fresh\Clean Uninstall\Reinstall on October 17\2016. At that time I was still capable of (Custom Installing) only features I elected. Of course it still listed the ones not chosen as (Available) should I decide to install\activate at a later point in time.
It is my understanding that now due to the (New) Scanning Engine. And the latest Version\Build (15.1.156) it indeed installs the complete package. Perhaps one of my Colleagues or our Resident Tier 2.5 Techs, will pick up this thread and add to the discussion.

I can confirm that in navigation and features it should give you an option to install anti spam and several other components. The new version has several options that were there before changed due to the new scanning engine used.
I have the same problem! I want to install McAfee Antivirus Plus with no firewall, but the new installer does not make me see the options page.
How can we customize the installation?
Please help!
Sincerely,
Rachele
Antivirus Plus doesn't come with a custom install. It's the basic package so doesn't have the same as LiveSafe etc.
The thing i dont understand, when it updates it updates what component i only have installed it does not install everything, so it is smart enough to do that, why doesn't the installer do the same?
Also as stated above, i did a clean install with my PC and i had the old installer. Just on the laptop i had the new installer. Mcafee should give users the option to install specific component as they and other have for decades, not change things and force users to install annoying components. I dont use vulnerability scanner, parental controls and web protection to intrusive.
Thanks for looking into this, just waiting for final answer on if you use older installer, or fix newer installer.
No this was not from dell or ISP, this was from Staples. I bought a key card for unlimited. As i said, my PC gets on installer and the laptop get another one. The newer installer has a different GUI, that does an initial scan, downloads the new software and just installs, without prompting for customization, like the other installer. That is the weird thing. I dont know if it is detecting the laptop as a mobile device, ie smart phone and giving a different GUI. If so that is something Mcafee should fix.
thanks
