Re: The McAfee Boot Delay Start Service service hung on starting. Event ID: 7022

I can absolutely confirm there have been changes to the full install package since my last reinstallation (late night Apr 14, 2014 EST). Tonights ubiquitous recommended uninstall confirms the same results I got with my trusted new system HD: no McAfee Boot Delay service exists and mfeapfk.sys Start registry value is automatically set as 3 so there are no problems. Perhaps these fixes will eventually rollout to everyone without the need to reinstall McAfee.

Selvan, I can confirm there is no HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mcbootdelaystartsvc entry left after complete uninstall. However, this entry looks like it might be a McAfee leftover: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\McMPFSvc

Maybe not, I’m tired of researching.

Anyway I’m an expert at reinstalling McAfee now, so here’s a tip: always use the IE browser (even running XP), don’t close your browser and stay signed in. Run everything from within the browser and the installation will be smooth as silk.

That is good to hear. What version did it download?

Same AV (16.8.708) and VS (2.8.716), but Security Center went from 12.8.934 to 12.8.944.

I went ahead and scanned my original HD as a data drive, nothing found. I fully expected McAfee to complain about signature files found on the original HD; apparently McAfee doesn’t scan itself on another drive.

Anyway I’m not going to whine, won’t do any good anyhow and still greatly relieved so I might as well continue migrating onto a fresh clean build.

I always feel dirty once my machine has been "remoted".

Well it is good to hear things are fine. My "dirty remoting" taking place tomorrow for more logs on the thunderbird bugs. Really selvan's remote sessions no big deal for me as I have had it done plenty of times in 11 years here but I can see how one could be worried .

Oh it is my wif'e's PC that is being done so does not worry me

Good luck hope the next upgrade works for you as well and thanks for your patience.

Hi Tommy,

Please confirm if the issue has been Resolved (No Boot delay Service Present in services.msc and msconfig ) If yes then it is Obvious that changes were made in the MMI (McAfee Master Installer).

OK, I’ll leave it.

But I suspect it’s the install package itself making the difference, not necessarily the Security Center version. My first good install was Apr 20, 2014.

When you do a complete reinstallation, all dates of installed features should reflect that specific date. Updates thereafter are changed, so this does not look like a recent reinstallation.
