Hi ,
What is the operating system of the computer ?
May I know what is the type of internet connection ?
Do you have any other security software in the computer?
Regards,
Dinesh K
The operating system is Microsoft Windows
The usual internet connection that the laptop will currently use is BT wireless, however I am currently not at that location so I am using Sky wireless connection. I have tried to install using both connections but the same message came up.
I dont think the laptop has any other security software. It had Norton, but I deleted that before I tried to install Mcafee but I will check again now.

Thanks for the information, In your case , the downloadmanager could be interrupted from accessing the internet .
Check and delete if you find any other security software files and folders in C:/program files or common files.
Run the preinstall tool from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe and start installing again
Do report back if you still come across any errors.

Dinesh K

Hi,
Connect the computer to a wired connection and restart the computer and tap F8 while it restarts.
From the advanced boot options menu select safe mode with networking
Open IE, click tools - click internet options - from advanced menu uncheck the options:
*check for publisher certificate revovation
*check for server certificate revocation*.
And then try installing ,

Hi,
You can also try this if it still gives the same message(no internet connection),
run the norton removal tool { attached the file)
restart the computer
Try downloading mcafee, Revert back if any issues
All the Best
