Hi.
I had McAfee for a year, didn't renew my subscription immediately, but yesterday I renewed it for £27 as my computer is now 'under threat', with multiple fake security threats warning me every minute, telling me to install their malware (which I'm not). I have downloaded the McAfee setup file, but I have problems similar to Patrique - when I try to load up the installation package, it flickers as a window and does nothing.
I ran the mcafee removal tool as Dinesh K advised, and restarted, but I'm still getting the same problem.
Here are the details of my laptop:
How do you connect to the internet (DSL, cable or Dial-up)? cable I think. It's broadband.
Your Windows 7 is 64 bit or 32 bit Operating System ? 32-bit operating system
Did you made any recent changes to the system (Computer)? No.
What is the version of internet net explorer (IE) you use? Mozilla Firefox
Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.
Tom
Hi Hadrien,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused in installing the programs. As far of windows 7 – 64 bit operating systems ,It’s a known issue and its been reported to the engineering team and they are working on it, I shall update you immediately when I hear from them . Until then could you please try to login to http://beta.mcafee.com and subscribe for a McAfee beta trial version and try installing it and let me know the status.

Hello All,
I too am having problems installing McAfee on a Windows 7 computer. McAfee came installed on the Windows 7 computer when I bought it last fall from Dell. It seemed to work, but for the past month it failed to update and when I attempted to correct it by clicking on "Fix" it would fail and then McAfee would display a vague message about having to manually correcting something. Eventually I decided to uninstall and then re-install. I uninstalled following instructions from the McAfee support site and attempted to reinstall following the links as prompted. The install failed and message saying that I need a compatable version of windows. If this is a known defect, I would hope McAfee is working day and night to fix it as soon as possible. I would also hope they'd send out a notice when it's available.
I'm running without a virus scanner now and I'm looking into other virus scanner options.
