Ingoing/Outgoing Traffic

I have McAfee Antivirus Plus because it came with my HP Windows 7 64bit computer.  I don't understand why I only

have incoming traffic and no outgoing traffic.  Could someone please explain.  When I have internet access do all

the sites I visit show up in incoming or outgoing.  There are only records of incoming and nothing on outgoing.

There is nothing ever logged into History and Reports about email scan and attachments either.  Sorry to be so

ignorant, but things just seem a bit off.   A PC at 192.168.1.1 (my router) is trying to access system  TCP ports 2869

commonly known as ICSLAP event.  Is that common? 

So basically pleaase give me an example of common incoming IPs...social media, email,  since that is all I have logs

on.  Thanks for helping this newbie.

I don`t have anything In mine either.I believe the outgoing will only show up if a program does not already have outbound access in your firewall permissions.Say for example you had Mcafee to alert you when a program wants internet access.If it was not already granted permissions in your firewall you would recieve a pop up.I believe then if you clicked block.It would then be listed.don`t remember if it lists if you give it permission.Not sure abot the port question.Although I think it may be ok.I`m am sure someone else may be able to help with that Question.

Re ports have you ever had itunes installed. this can happen when you have media player set to check the net for music files updates. This 1 reason.

Thank you newjack.  I have no permissions listed.  Could you please tell me if your email/attachments field is blank like mine;or do you have things that are scanned listed?  I have some security issues I am dealing with and still learning how to protect myself.  Thanks.

You mean in the logs that you see in Navigation Center? Easy. Incoming events are attempts from somewhere outside to access your system that have been detected and blocked by McAfee, as in -

(and don't ask me what the Illusion Mailer Trojan is all about. That connection attempt was blocked, that's all that matters).
Regular communications (to and from the internet) by any program in the list of allowed programs are not shown here. Outgoing events are things you do not want to see at all, since something not on that approved list is trying to contact someone Out There for some unknown but probably unwelcome reason.

Answer to the first part : no. They will be logged somewhere in your browser history (and there will almost certainly be other records of your visits to web sites, such as cookies).

Me neither. I think that's because (according to the online Help) Anti-Spam only filters POP3 webmail traffic.

Maybe. The router is part of your network so should be able to make any connections it needs to. Make sure it's marked as trusted and that you don't still have the default password in place on it.

The logs show the IPs of outsiders making blocked attempts to connect to your machine. Anything that succeeds won't show up. For the IPs of destinations that you do legitimately connect to see the Traffic Monitor in Security Center.
